Cast Skins

Cast skins

Throughout their life cycle, bed bugs will shed their skin – or molt – five times before becoming an adult. The discarded shells will be various sizes and look like clear, empty exoskeletons. Cast skins are more likely to be found around harborages (nesting areas) than out in the open like fecal marks and blood stains.

Cast skins can be found in:

  • box springs
  • mattress seams
  • wood framing
  • inside books
  • picture frames
  • nightstands
  • carpet
  • and other items around their hiding spots.
